Very Famous Paneer Pasanda [Home Recipe]

Paneer Pasanda


Ingredients:

  • 200g paneer (Indian cottage cheese), cut into slices

For the filling:

  •   1/4 cup cashews, finely chopped
  •   2 tablespoons raisins
  •   1 tablespoon grated ginger
  •   1 green chili, finely chopped
  •   1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  •   Salt to taste

For the batter:

  •   1/2 cup besan (gram flour)
  •   1/4 cup rice flour
  •   1/4 teaspoon red chili powder
  •   Salt to taste
  •   Oil for shallow frying

For the gravy:

  •   2 tablespoons ghee (clarified butter)
  •   1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  •   1 onion, finely chopped
  •   1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
  •   2 tomatoes, pureed
  •   1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  •   1 teaspoon red chili powder
  •   1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  •   Salt to taste
  •   1/4 cup fresh cream
  •   Chopped coriander leaves for garnish

Recipe:

1. Prepare the filling by mixing all the ingredients together.

2. Spread the filling between two slices of paneer.

3. In a mixing bowl, combine besan, rice flour, red chili powder, and salt to make the batter.

4. Dip the stuffed paneer slices into the batter and shallow fry them until golden brown. Set aside.

5. To prepare the gravy, heat ghee in a pan and add cumin seeds.

6. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown. Then add ginger-garlic paste and cook for a minute.

7. Add tomato puree, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt. Cook until the oil separates.

8. Stir in the fresh cream and cook for another minute.

9. Place the fried paneer in the gravy and cook for a few minutes.

10. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with roti or naan.
